Ex filed for child support even though our custody agreement states neither parent will receive child support.

Well my anecdote was not well flushed out. I just imagine the money wealthy parents would be forced to shell out if they separated compared to spending relatively little on child care in a two parent household. If mommy is entitled to 4k a month in child support for the interest of the child, why do the parents only spend 300 bucks a month on little johnny, that sort of thing.

I just recall a friend who's mother received child support despite the fact that he was away living at college. Prior to that they'd had joint custody. Parents never married. Mom is living in a less than modest condo and driving german car despite working as a temp now and then and is paying most of her bills with child support payments. Friend is working a job and paying his own rent at college. It seemed odd to me that this was legal. His father is rather wealthy but Im just curious how that money is apportioned.

I guess your answer is that its very complicated but it just doesnt seem right.
