Ex-MP Natalie McGarry jailed for 18 months over £25k fraud

Funnily enough I met her at an SNP activ8 day, way back when folk were being considered for candidate selection by going through a fairly rigorous selection process involving a dour couple of inquisitors.

She came across as bright, keen, eager and someone with a decent amount of integrity about her.

When the WFI incident started to rumble, there was a steady moment of anyone but Natalie blame game taking place. I honestly thought it was a case of incompetence over malevolence. I also jumped into defend her when she had her battle with Rowling over her friendship with Brian Spanner who plays in Rowling's husband's pub band.

I'm sad to see that her time in the public eye has ended like this, that her career, liberty and probably relationship with her partner and family has been torn apart.

It's more sadness at how someone with potential has fallen so low, than anger.
