Ex-religious people of Reddit. What made you question your faith?

I came to the conclusion that religion is just a concept conceived by humans, it's not real, just nonsense.

Humans are scared of the unknown, that's a given. So, they develop a "safe haven" to ensure a sense of relief for unanswerable questions. Questions such as, "what happens to me when I die?" or "why do bad things happen to good people?" cannot be answered.

I really tried in my life to be religious, I thought finding a divine God was a "missing link" in my life. It wasn't even the fact that I am a logical person... I just didn't believe in it. I'm not one to bash anybody but religion is a lie and it's utterly ridiculous. We got people out here "praying" for their sins after they commit a vile act, what is that going to do? So... just because you pray to God after you do something heinous, all is good? We got Catholic priests molesting children, and the Catholic Church covering it up (read about the catholic priests sex scandal in the Boston vicinity in 2002). So you're telling me that the HOLIEST people that preach what's right and wrong are doing this? It's hysterical watching everybody running around with their head cut off like a chicken, just blindly following the masses. This was the moment where I "woke up" and people need to do the same. Without religion, the world surely would be a better place. It is a primary reason (besides the color of one's skin) why people are so divided in the world.
