This is a really good point. I don’t think he keeps me around as an ego boost... he’s a really fundamentally good person and that just isn’t like him. But it totally is possibly that he’s downplaying how happy he really is with this girl, and I’ve definitely gotten some mixed signals from him on that front.

There’s such a long history between us though, we’ve both dated other people, I don’t even think that he thinks I’m interested in pursuing him, even if he did think that I had lingering feelings.

And I don’t think he’s really the type to end a relationship that he’s content in. He’s mentioned that they don’t really fight... they just live. He seems like he cares about her but that he’s indifferent about what happens at this point because, like I said, I don’t think the relationship is a primary focus in his life right now.
