Do you feel that your family background in the UK actively affects personal success?

Yes, Massively.

Having a wealthy family provides access to much better education, vastly superior healthcare, post graduation connections etc, Family loans to get on the equity ladder & escape rent serfdom.

So much in the working world is about who you know not what you know. If you’ve got a connection somewhere that vouches for you, Your CV+Application has gone from a pile on recruitment teams desk into the bosses hands.

Even where I work in construction, I see so many posts online of people begging companies to take their young lads on as apprentices (they’ve been accepted into college but still need a company to sponsor them), But practically every building company in the country is ran by generations of the same family, staffed by tons of father / sons types.

You can absolutely be a self made success story in this country, but people who come from wealthy backgrounds are basically playing life on easy mode.
