Fellow Scots, we must stand up against racism

I'm gonna reply to him anyway even though comment has been deleted, and no he has not replied to the wrong person and here's why.

Sadly...it happens everywhere. Dickheads come in many nationalities and colours but I'd just like to highlight that it happens (to us English too), we just don't often complain about it.

Well maybe you should, your right there are dickheads everwhere we have them ourselves. This fact does not make it right to ignore it. I myself have stayed in Ireland and have suffered casual racism while there as well, It does exist quite badly in the Rural Areas of Ireland and seemed to be exsaherbated by the economic situation while I was there in 2009. your also right that discrimination comes in may forms, but i'll point something out for you in how that banter can be used in positive ways and not allow itself to take it seriously.

Now I know that people in the south of England discriminate people from "The North" and some say quite mean shit especially about your accents, the issue isn't that they say it and try to kid on it's banter, it's the fact they actually belive it and mean it under guise of banter.

I love the show "Not Going Out" and the jokes are there to see but if yor examine closely enough, you can see that Lee Mack wrote it not only to be funny, but to show how dispariging that banter can be, thinking about some of the jokes on the show, in the real world are quite hurtful, very nasty and downright wrong, yet people use that as an excuse to either join in or ignore the nuance then call that banter all they while they are giving creedence and validation to these views.

Now in Scotland we do the same to people in Aberdeen, we call them sheep shaggers because they're so far north thay have nothing else to do but not for one minute do any of us actually Belive it, That IS banter and both sides know it because it doen't have the loaded nuance of coming across as being discrimitary.

Banter is Banter, dismissing even casual racism as banter is where it goes wrong and maybe part of why England is the way it is, it can't tell the nuance to tell weather the racist is being serious or not.

We can tell, the use of the word "Jock", calling us Scotch, Saying I can't understand you when they understood you fine. the little things they think is funny to them but they know it's loaded with the hatred we can't stand so they use it to be racist without it being so direct and in your face.

It's a fine line we try not to cross, it's more about respecting others not to, sure we have our dicks but it doesn't seem as prelevant as it does in England and this is why we are calling you out on it this time, and this is what paints my view of England so bad, because the casual racism is never called out on it's just ignored.
