What is something a teacher did that still makes you angry to this day?

My 6th grade teacher Mme Darota was a flipping nightmare, I’m just going to add everything I can remember, it’s important to note that my class was french immersion so we barely spoke or wrote in English, except during English class.

-the class was reading a book and doing the little assignments with it. At some point the word “raspberry” was used. We were supposed to write our answers on the board and a girl wrote “rasberry”, because the word had never come up organically before for us. She immediately starts making fun of this girl, calls her names, then turns to one of the kids she thought was smarter and asks how to spell raspberry, and that kid agreed with the girl. Mme Darota asked about 5 other kids and we all agreed with the girl. She lost her damn mind, called us dumb, acting as if it wasn’t her job to teach us this stuff and just treating us terribly. All of the students were more confused than hurt at this point.

-we were still learning multiplication, and I had got the right answer on the assignment but it was a 2 parter that if you didn’t do it the way she wanted it was wrong. Got 50% on the assignment and went to her desk after class. I’d done it with little dots to help me instead of doing the cross multiplication bullshit. She got upset and told me there was only one right way and that I was going to amount to anything because I couldn’t multiply the way she wanted me to.

-a friend of mine wanted to work in the music industry, and was talking about it in class. She was saying that she wanted to be a singer or maybe a singer writter. Darota was walking passed and laughed in her face, told her that she was no where near good enough to even try. Friend quickly stopped wanting to have anything to do with the music industry.

-the two french 6th grade classes had a movie day at the end of every month. There was a point system in place where if a kid didn’t do their homework or have their agenda signed 5 days in a month, they wouldn’t get to watch the movie. For the kids who’s parents didn’t care, we never got to watch the movie. My parents were in the middle of a divorce and stopped caring about their children so I did no homework from grade 4 to 11. I always thought that my judgement was fair because it was my choice and i didn’t do my homework. But there was one girl that Darota hated. The girls mum worked out of town, she didn’t have a present dad, and her mums room mate kinda sorta looked after her. This girl would always have her homework done and tried her best, but her temp guardian wasn’t allowed to sign her agenda for some reason and so she never got to watch the movie. Darota constantly belittled her for that and didn’t believe that her mum was out of town or anything. The kids that had 5 strikes stayed in Darotas classroom alone to finish their homework, while both teachers and the rest of the students watched the movies. I honestly preferred staying by ourselves tbh. We always just chatted and had a good time isn’t of being forced to watch chicken run.

She was the second teacher for my grade that was fired in 2 years. She was gone because of how many complaints there were of her bullying her students, and if the rumours are correct, someone filmed her bullying the students names and showed a parent. Using her real name because fuck you mme Darota.
