and if I were to look at it from a perspective of not having played the game before besides a new class and skins it doesn't tell you much at all

That's the thing, the game already reached peak. Anyone who was interested in the game has already tried it and either decided it's not for them or to keep playing.

Their current "marketing" (if you can even call it that) is mostly aimed at their current playerbase and maybe some returning players. It's just a nice little teaser for people like us who keep up with the game.

I'd expect them to turn up the marketing aimed at new players once we're deeper into Legion raids and when they introduce big catch-up mechanics like the permanent honing buffs.
