Forgive me if this has been asked before, but for those of you who tutor outside school, how much do you charge per hour?

70/hr if I coordinate the whole thing. I don’t advertise. People come to me via the vine tree. I hate driving so people send their kids to me too.

If I work through a company, I get paid 35/hr for tutoring and half-rate for preparation/non-teaching. I get 1/3 of tutoring hours as NT hour regardless of whether I prep or not so the true min. hourly rate is closer to over 41/hr. This is nice when I am too lazy to set things up/parents are a hassle/need more time in self-development for that course.

I have been doing this for about 4 months and started with no teaching experience.

Part of the appeal is that I went to an elite school with a sizable scholarship. I have some knowledge on college admissions so I become also a one-stop shop for a lot of parents. It also makes selling why their kid needs to be excellent at physics/math and easy sell.

Also worked for Samsung as software dev so I can charge an additional “premium” as someone with “real-world” success working in their kid. Also kids like me. Lol
