I appreciated that he immediately showed sincere remorse and embarrassment. He didn’t try to deflect or blame anyone else. I don’t think his hand was actually touching her, either, so I don’t believe it was “assault.” It was a stupid, low-class, juvenile joke from his time as a silly comedian while entertaining mostly male soldiers stuck overseas in 2006 - the type of joke that many of us former immature teenagers and try-to-be-funny adults also regret now that we are wiser, and were cringing along with him. He is clearly not a molester, pedophile, rapist or criminal like some other politicians who still remain in office.

Most importantly, the woman in the photo sincerely forgave him before he even resigned. Now I think voters will forgive him too if they’re given the chance.
