This short-sightedness is the hallmark of the conservative grand strategy. Every point the Republican party tries to push is proven to be unsustainable. Taxes, healthcare, segregation, war, unregulated capitalistic pillaging, each can only edge the nation closer to a breaking point, where beyond is unknown to all. They cannot, will not, ever Make America Great Again. Not because of lack of greatness, rather the impossibility to travel through time.

Tell your parents or grandparents that we can't pop a u-turn and pull over and park the car in the 1950s. It's impossible. Any attempts to recreate that golden age are doomed to be tainted by the present. They cling to the memories and are left behind, becoming only more isolated and afraid.

No good will ever be done by those who lash out in anger and fear.
