French Girl Marries Chinese Dude - says they don't need money when they've got each other. Internet rejoices. - 法国姑娘倒追苏州小伙 结婚不要车房

I beg to differ. In many arguments with caucasians, they seem to think that when we use this term, it is sexist because we are trying to take ownership of them. My comments thus far have been to point out that this is not HOW or WHY we are using a comment that way.

Good for you. Nobody here was using that interpretation so you are effectively admitting to arguing with a straw man.

Well then that's really your problem isn't it? It's not my fault you interpreted it that way. Marry who you like.

...you interpret it the exact same way later on in this post:

You have to realize that YOU ARE A FOREIGNER. You come from a society that does not have these things. Dating/marrying out is significant importance. Refusing to do this, and/or removing a woman from their country, divorcing them of all of the above, you are weakening China itself, even at such an extremely small level.

This is the same thing as I stated in the previous post:

It's obvious that the idea being expressed with the following kinds of statements is that Chinese women should only date/marry within their own ethnic group

Thank you for proving my previous statement. It's nice when the other person unwittingly provides the evidence.

But watch your mouth when you try to reverse this back on us and call us racists and sexists.

If I see sexism and racism I'm going to call it out. I really don't give a shit about whatever convoluted reasons you tell yourself in order to justify your behavior.

And by the way, white men react the same exact way when men of other races date and marry white women.

Looks like someone is spending way too much time on /pol/, /r/hapas, and /r/aznidentity.

As a person of color, I see it ALL. THE. TIME.

Great. This would be relevant if I was making the claim that a similar phenomenon does not occur with white guys... buuuut I didn't. I'm not surprised you readily jumped on the tu quo que train, though.

That's because I wasn't addressing that. But yeah, there's double standards. When they RARELY see a Chinese man/foreign GF or wife, but they COMMONLY see a Foreign man/Chinese GF or wife, they're going to celebrate the RARER occurrence. Because it's fucking rare.

Wait a second, you clearly state below that dating/marrying out of one's ethnicity "weakens China itself". Why would you ever claim that a Chinese/foreign couple is cause to celebrate if this were actually the case? Oh, I know why: because you're full of shit.

No it's not. It's natural to want to date and marry within your own ethnic group. It's natural to find your own ethnic group attractive or more attractive than other ethnic groups. That's not racism.

It becomes racist when people try to involuntarily impose these conditions on someone to whom this does not apply through verbal (and sometimes physical) harassment. This happens to be sexist because it occurs predominantly with Chinese women.

Racism is when someone prejudices, discriminates, or antagonizes on the basis that their race is superior.

Yes, and then you literally prove the racism of this mentality when you say things like:

Chinese have their own culture, beliefs, values, and tradition. You have to realize that YOU ARE A FOREIGNER. You come from a society that does not have these things. Dating/marrying out is significant importance. This means that you are required to adopt THEIR language, THEIR culture, THEIR beliefs, THEIR values and THEIR tradition. Refusing to do this, and/or removing a woman from their country, divorcing them of all of the above, you are weakening China itself, even at such an extremely small level.

You and other Chinese people (probably subconsciously) view Chinese culture as superior to American culture, which is why the thought of a male FOREIGNER "removing a woman from their country" is so threatening to you. QED it is a racist sentiment.

The best evidence lies in the United States. Look at the minority groups here. With each passing generation, minorities retain less and less of their culture and definitely for 2nd generation (who were born here, to immigrants) one of the first things that they lose is language, as English supplants it.

It's almost as if immigrants to the United States begin to adopt *gasp* American culture (which you will likely claim does not exist, lol).
