Is this game worth getting into actually?

I think the answer is no, for now, yet a massive YES in general. WoD wasn't as disastrous imho as many might say, but the player base dwindled to such a degree, that when people who want to get into the game ask me if they should, I tell them not to. The last big patch was 6.2, which come online in June, and there isn't going to be a new big one all the way up to Legion, which is supposed to be released in summer 2016; in other words, no major new content until ~June-~September. WoW is one of the most contentful MMOs there are out there that I've played, and the huge majority of the lore behind it is fantastic if you're the kind of person that likes it. The world itself is almost totally open world, which is cumbersome to some and a huge draw for others. The population these days is in an all time low, with afaik ~5mil paying subs, and it shows. There aren't as many people in the lvling areas as there once were, and some guilds and groups are finding recruiting to be difficult due to this issue. It still has a rather large community compared to some other MMOs, but it is low compared to WoW's history. There are set events for an average of 1 each month, with set dates and mostly the same content. Those events are on a very big scale, and have their own achievements, quests and items that you can acquire at. Early February for example is Lunar Festival (1st-15th), and after wards begins Valentine's Day event. I like those events a lot, and they are far from required or mandatory for anything other than luxury stuff like mounts, toys, transmogrifiable items etc. etc. Most low levels you see, like in most big MMOs, are alts of more veteran people, but there are still new players you can meet, even if in a smaller quantity than past years. Like it was said in other comments, some of the leveling areas might be a bit empty in realms (WoW's term for servers) with low population. The trial is, under no circumstances, a good measure for the game. It limits you gameplay is almost every thinkable way: from chat, to guilds, to in-game mail and the level cap (max level is 20 for trials), which is on the very low side (max is 100 in WoD), and has basically nothing that keeps players to play on the long run (except for altoholics, but that's a different story). My advice is yes, this game is great and totally worth experiencing. just not currently. I would advise to wait until Legion is released and seeing if the population numbers grow, and how will the new expansion be in general. Even if it won't be the best thing to ever happen to WoW/MMO, I still think that when it comes out it'll be a good time to get into it. Or alternatively, a short period before it's released, so you'll have a max level character ready for the new expansion.
