Going between Luella and Matilda, opinions?

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

I am passionate about being against names like Clover at least in part because I have a very stupid baby name that has caused me great pain throughout my life and contributed hugely to destroying my self-confidence. I can't bring myself to change it because nothing else feels right, but everything about my name makes me feel negative about myself. This is obviously very personal so I'm going to delete it after awhile.

I'm an extreme, but your kid could be the same. don't make your child the victim of what you love. I mean' of course there is no guarantee that they'll like whatever name you give them, but at least give them options and give them names that can be serious. And like I said, if you must use something like Kit or Clover, use it in the middle. (Mind you, I have nothing against Kit as a nickname for something like Katherine or Christine/Christina and other names could work also.) You may not think of Kit as a nickname because it's the word for a baby fox, but on a person, it's typically thought of as a nickname.

I want to add that just because you love something and it's special to you, does not mean it's a good name for a child. I love rabbits but I'm not naming my daughter "Bunny", although I could use that for a family nickname.
