Something similar happened to my childhood friend years ago. He talked to the cops because he had nothing to hide and called me immediately after because he was having a meltdown. I can’t even imagine what it’s like to go through it.

You’re probably freaking out. There’s a high probability that this won’t amount to anything. Even if it moves forward, you’re going to be fine. In my buddy’s case, he got a lawyer, but never heard from the cops again. This is over ten years ago.

You have to get a lawyer ASAP. Also, don’t ever tell a single person about this situation, not even your wife someday. Take it to the grave. People gossip and you don’t want to tarnish your reputation.

I guess if you get desperate to speak with someone, you can get a therapist. They’re sworn by law to keep information secret. This will also help you deal with all of your emotions. As another commenter pointed out, an accusation really screwed with their mental health. Make sure you take care of yours as well.
