Since laws have done nothing to prevent that. You are basically saying they have skin because something bad happened.
You used Sandy Hook, the only way to prevent that would require a full out ban on all firearms and mass confiscation. As his mother bought those weapons for herself, and she didn't tic any boxes.
So after removing the second amendment, the 4th (as you will need to use the guns registries), the 10th (as most states have their own version of the second amendment in their constitutions) and outlawing all guns and setting aside trillions of dollars to pay for this. You will need to have the military, police, and other law enforcement go door to door taking firearms by force. By force from millions of people that have never committed a crime in their life but will see this as an act of government takeover, and will fight to the death. So after your side has killed more than 50 Million people and lost at least 20 million in the process, possibly sparked a revolution, allowed a fascist or socialist dictatorship to take over, maybe you would prevent 1 sandy hook a year.
Do you know how much an illegal fully automatic AK goes for in France, 1k Euros. An illegal fully automatic UZI might run you 1k Dollars in the states, but you are acting like outlawing guns that cost that much for semi automatic AR-15, that you can build on a drill press, or an AK, that you can make out of a shovel, would really fix things.
Deaths by rifles, what your side endlessly wants to outlaw, kills less than falling out of bed in this country. Rifles, yearly, less than 400, Falling out of Bed normally averages 450.
For a country with over 450 million guns in private hand, most of which are rifles, that is remarkably low number.
The Guns your side tries to outlaw is exceedingly rare in crime, but there is also non gun crime, tons of violent crime and your side is always saying we have an extremely high murder rate.
Let me know when anti gunners will finally enforce federal gun laws. It seems like every day that a gang banger gets picked up for dealing drugs w/e, with an illegal handgun (5 Year FEDERAL sentence), gets probation, and later kills some in that 5 year period.
