Guys, when did you tell the truth but live to regret it?

Haha yeah. I was hanging out in the passenger seat of a car that was parked talking with a friend after a bar had closed. The cops 'pulled us over' (as much as one can in a parked car). They tried really, really hard to get me to take a sobriety test. I said I had only had a couple of drinks over the past few hours and they told me I should be fine. I should just take the test so that they would feel better and then they wouldn't have to worry about me driving later because, if I had lied and was drunk and then drove, they'd get me for DUI.
I asked, "Ok, what happens if I take the test and pass?"
"We won't have to worry about you and you won't have to worry about a DUI."
"Ok, so what happens if I take it and fail?"
"We'll take you in on a Public Intoxication."
"Yeah, I'll pass."
They kept goading me into taking it even after I showed them I was calling a cab company to get a ride home to play it safe.
Kept saying, "If you're fine then you don't need to call a cab--just take the test."
Friend and I both refused--I mostly kept my mouth shut. They waited till they were about to drive away before telling my friend her tire was flat and then they drove off.
Fucking assholes. Too many cops in the US desperately want to give you a ticket to the point they try to force and trick you into it.

In Uni my school had a program where you could call them and they'd give you a ride home from the bars or wherever. Cops would hang out next to it and get drunk people for Public Intox. People trying to do the right thing and get home would get a ticket. It's fucked up. When people on Reddit hate on people for driving under the influence--you need to understand that the way many cops enforce these laws almost pushes people into risking it. I'm not condoning or encouraging it--definitely don't do it (especially now with Uber...I truly believe Uber has probably saved lives with regards to people now having an easy way to call a ride home; cabs were a joke). But the cops will get you if you try to walk, they'll get you if you try to sleep it off in your car, they'll get you walking to a ride, so many of them don't give a shit and want to bust you. It's fucked up but I've seen way too many of my friends get busted when they were trying to do the right thing.

Some of my experience is dated though--I was in college close to 10 years ago and, as I said, Uber has really helped, but when I was in Uni there was no, 'calling a cab home'. Seriously, god bless Uber and fuck the cab companies. A lot of my friends would drive under the influence and now I don't know anyone who would risk it and they'd get a ton of shit if they did.
And, no, I don't work for Uber (and when I refer to them I also mean Lyft and any of those other, similar companies).
