Hair, Makeup, Skincare, Fitness, and Fragrance Thread - May 22, 2018

I guess my question is more in line with "random fashion thoughts." Recently, I wanted to try on a different lip color, so I visited two popular make up brand stores near where I live.

I already had a color in mind, but both stores don't have the particular hue I'm going for.

But what I realized is that -because I don't use much make up - is that going to a make up counter is a very stressful experience. Because I am the only one that knows what tint/style of make up suits me, it's actually impossible for the make up store employees to help me out, but because they are on commission and have to decontaminate testers, they have to constantly linger by me.

One of the store has very helpful employees who actually listened to me (even though it was just impossible for her to know that "imaginary color" I was looking for, lol), but the other store had this employee that kept on giving me unwanted advice - which was very annoying. I know for a fact that purplish tints on lipsticks doesn't suit my skin, but she still recommended them to me.

It was very frustrating - I was wasting my time and her time. Sometimes I feel that the best experience I had at a make up store was at a Glossier pop up shop, because I was allowed to try out every thing on my own instead of asking the girls there to decontaminate every product.

Do you guys feel the same way about going to make up counters?
