Handpicked incoming GOP NC lawmaker claims he was at Jan. 6 riot

Donnie Loftis, who is to become a General Assembly member for North Carolina's 109th District in the wake of former state Representative Dana Bumgardner's death earlier this month, told WRAL he "peacefully exercised my first amendment rights in front of the U.S. Capitol" and was "surprised and disappointed to watch others storm the entrance as violence ensued."

I guess he can't be arrested for trespassing, then. Still, what a shame to have a representative who has such disregard for the law of the land. It's amazing how low people like Donnie Loftis can sink and still serve in a government position. I am sure the people who picked him are as corrupt and shabby as he is.

If any member of my family had been present at that January 6th rally, I would be so embarrassed and ashamed, I would disown them. But here's this guy, all puffed up with pride over his new position. It seems like North Carolina has very low standards when it comes to picking leadership because only very stupid people to elevate a guy who attacked our democracy like that. Really, it reflects on the whole state and all the people in it. It makes them look like anti-American anti-patriotic disease-spreading traitors.

Is this the best person the Gaston County GOP executive committee could find? They must be running low on potential candidates then, so they are scraping the bottom of the barrel. Probably they are clinging to the bottom of the barrel. They sure don't command any respect for making choices like that.
