Hapahood and Children

Awwww, that is sad that you feel that way, but I can understand where you are coming from. I have a relative who is Blasian, and it was very difficult for her, she is half Japanese. She later decided to marry a Black man and now her kids are mostly Black. They are upset with her, and want to be mixed race. Often they will call me on the phone crying saying "why did mommy have to make us Black". I try to tell them that she did it so they would accepted ince their mother was never accepted by either side. I also tell them that you can't change your race, and all you can do is change your social class, so do well in your studies. Blasians are more embraced on the mainland by African Americans, but I would not say that is the case in mixed race Hawaii. However, Eurasians male and females are embraced in Hawaii. There really is not a large enough Black community on the islands for them to form a Black identity.
