I hate British accents

In America, many American accents are treated as undesirable. You will be mercilessly teased, most likely have opportunities not available to you if you speak in strong accent and are encouraged to get rid of it in order to succeed.

This is not true of the British accent - it is almost always viewed in a positive light, from interesting and quirky to scholarly and distinguished. Therefore it seems that second to a standard American pronunciation (demonstrated on mainstream news broadcasting), the British accent is probably the most common accent heard in America. And that bothers me, because I hate hearing it. That is why I don't like that it is revered, along with the fact that I think American dialects should be encouraged, not suppressed. Maybe that last part is part of why I hate it so much...
