We have a border collie and he is an amazing pet. Always happy and very affectionate (much more than I was expecting).

Also very easy to train, house trained within about 5 days, very eager to please during obedience training sessions.

We make sure he gets two walks a day and pay for those dog adventure walks if we are both at work.

He is exceptionally perceptive to what’s happening around him and adapts behaviour accordingly. If the humans are calm he chills out, if the humans are being playful he plays. If we sleep in then he sleeps until we wake up.

Negatives: very protective of the house and my partner (he loves her more than anything). Hates cats. Doesn’t like children under 5, who he doesn’t know.

I didn’t want to get him for the same reasons others are saying on here but was ‘convinced’. Best call we have made on a long time.
