Sorry I mixed up his obituary with a different one! You’re right! One of his said Prussia another Germany. I typed this up quickly before work and didn’t think lol! His wife’s obituary gave an exact location of Nassau. Further research points to Cologne, Germany, but I can not find any hard proof of that being the case. My family, like many others, unfortunately has a very common German last name it seems. I have researched mostly on Ancestry, family search, archives.com, dug through many newspapers, and local historical sites. I have found the records from when he came to American, he left at the Port of Le Havre, but I can not find the emigration records only the immigration records. He arrived on the ship, “Brutus” which I can’t find anything on, and arrived in New York in July of 1847.
