Hermione to be played by a black actress in the new play.

So, because you didn't see it on Facebook it must not have happened? Mind you, FB launched in February of 2004 and didn't service the general public. Prisoner of Azkaban was released a few months later soooooo you're viewing this through your current reliance on FB that wouldn't have existed almost 12 years ago. Let me explain.

I was very heavily into the books, visited all the well-known HP sites religiously, and was part of a group on another forum that dissected every chapter of every book and I can absolutely assure you that fans objected to how pretty Emma Watson is. You keep using the phrase "shit storm" but fail to account for the vastly different digital environments. Twitter wasn't launched until 2006. FB was a baby. MySpace's functions didn't heavily revolve around news sharing. Reddit wasn't even created until 2005 and neither was YouTube. What you describe as a "shit storm" was a different beast back then.

I think it's really shameful that no one can express an opinion without being called racist. Grow up, accept that not everyone agrees and quit slinging mud at strangers on the Internet. Jesus, I didn't even like when they recast Dumbledore and made him dowdy and angry. I didn't like when Karen Murphy in the Dresden Files TV show became a brunette. And I sure as shit wouldn't like it if a black character became white because when someone says that character name, you conjure up that first image you made. People get attached to images created by source material. You don't have to agree but lay off; just because someone has emotional attachment to something you judge to be stupid does not give you the right to call someone shitty things.
