Giustra has a seat on the Board of the Clinton Foundation. Giustra secured Bill Clinton lucrative paid speeches and let Bill Clinton use his private jet in the years after he left office. He remains a key Clinton ally, his history with Bill Clinton goes back over ten years.

Passage of the Colombian free trade agreement directly benefited Giustra and friends stock portfolio. Giustra was a founder of the energy company Pacific Rubiales , which is part of the larger conglomerate the Pacifico Group.
