How are the ottawa pmqs?
Surprised to see some posts saying there's a wait-list, I moved out at the beginning of 2016 and it was mostly still a ghost town. My experience living there for a few years:
Rent price is great compared to the rest of the city. Especially now.
The surrounding area is kinda crappy, but the pmq area itself always felt secure.
No Canex or anything nearby, unfortunately. There was a small Pronto store at one point, but they got rid of it.
The quality of my Q was pretty low (peeling paint, 70's kitchen and bathroom, ancient linoleum floors), but it was one of the non-renovated ones. I've heard the new ones are a lot better.
Never liked the big SELF HELP HOUSING sign when driving into the area, always wished they would just call it Canadian Forces Housing or something.
CFHA can be annoying, at least while I was there. They loved to drive around and look for things to write warning notices for. I never really had any problems, but I knew a few people that had long-running feuds with them. They also tried to pull that $300 cleaner thing when I cleared out, but I think they all do that.
