How can I pick between Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering?

When i moved to Houston 10 years ago (from st louis), i had a guy i met make fun of my salary because it was so much lower than his in o&g. Since then he came to me twice to get a job at the companies i worked at (both global companies with business in multiple sectors including o&g). Back then i had briefly considered switching to o&g but didn’t want to start over in a new industry. Now i am really glad i didnt switch because all the layoffs would have been very stressful for me (single mom supporting my son on my own) and I am moving back to STL this summer and i couldn’t have done that in o&g probably. I get to stay with my current company and even current team in Houston and still move and start my count down to retirement :)
