How could I literally destroy or deactivate my soul?

People argue about this stuff all the time.

Any answer to this will be controversial.

And I'm just a very flawed dilettante scholar caught in a chaotic storm-front of my own. But I'm sharing anyway. It may point you in a direction where you can get an answer.

I will first admit to some envy mixed in with my sympathy. You actually broke through and can remember. I have barriers that are preventing me from knowing who I was, and it's been frustrating. Perhaps I will feel as you do now shortly. I am told that what I will learn will be difficult. I'm told that my blocks are out of fear or aversion. I would rather know who I really am even if it hurts, or so I think. We will see how wise that is soon, I think.

Let's assume that what you're going through is what is called a "past life regression". Let's assume that you got your body/mind in such a state that you were able to "tune in" to things that have happened to the previous physical version of you.

If you're Buddhist, this is actually desirable. It aides in navigation forward because you understand yourself. Distilled, Buddhists aim to eliminate the causal factors that would make you continue existing in this world by eliminating such things as desires. You could take up a Buddhist practice. You may not exactly forget, but the process would make the concerns no longer relevant to you.

A Buddhist perspective on the question of the soul is that it is not a non-physical substance or a parasite -- it's the physical effect of things like trauma or desire causing another physical body to manifest (or something else to carry the patterns of consciousness if not a normal body. Something has to carry the pattern). If this is the case, then it really is like a magnetic field leaving on imprint on a ferrous substance. Hypothetically, it should be possible to "overwrite" a signal -- like degaussing a CRT tv or an old magnet.

How would one go about doing this? Well, what basic technique opens one to change the functions of one's own mind?

You guessed it -- mediation.

And/Or self-hypnosis. Or entering a trance state. It starts with the first thing.

Now the problem is, this can open and close doors. Without direction, you could hit the "play" button instead of "erase/record" so to speak. Will guides it, but that's obvious. What isn't is the workings of the human body and mind and what to expect from this process. It would be like trying to program a computer without a reference -- it's possible but tedious and will require that mistakes be made. The difference is that a computer can be wiped and it's just a tool. A mistake made messing with your consciousness is a bit more serious.

The kind of precision that would prevent this eludes me. I've changed my own mind in somewhat difficult to explain ways that seems to have resulted in the erosion of my depression. So, yay me.

But I'm not good enough to block out my senses completely. All I can do is make my vision "wobbly" and my body a bit numb for short periods. There's more that happens, but it's not easy to explain. I begin to suspect that needed changes and repairs are happening before the big stuff comes. So, maybe I will actually be able to say more on this in, say, a year. Maybe 5.

You need an expert, and you need one now.

Most of what I'm saying is an extrapolation of what has worked for me and a review of the literature. You need someone with expert level knowledge of this gained through practice.

There are people out of several traditions that an fit the bill for what you need. Even some Druids do past life regressions. From my experience, avoid them. I say this because I knew one person who was advanced. It got the the point where he was sure he could skry lottery numbers. He ran into a daemon during a regression and ended up giving up his practice and attending a Catholic church so that the hymns and rituals could repulse what was following him. I'm sure others in that path have avoided such situations and will have the needed skill, but it seems you will need a good, uninterrupted continuous tradition with years of accumulated data and a better communication network. Hindus and Buddhists have bee working with this stuff for as long as writing has been able to record it. Put bluntly, they're just a bit more organized. There are likely Chinese traditions that could help as well, what with all the different schools of energy manipulation. Access to that will be location dependent.

I know this means more research for you. What I'm hoping is that someone more adept will provide it from here. If you can accumulate a lot of courage, then a meditation practice of your own could well get you there just by itself. I'm just concerned that without a guide, it could be extremely painful or risk making things worse.

I hope this helps.
