How did you almost die?

OK, this will be buried but it haunts me everyday. I was driving in an empty highway in southern Europe, end of July 2004, a bit after 3:00pm.

As I was driving, a wasp enters from the opened window on my side and goes straight into my glasses, stinging me on my eyelid. I scream in pain, but I am relaxed enough to look in the mirror to make sure there is nobody, and then slow down and turn on the emergency lights, heading to a station further down in the road to stop and look at my eye.

As I was doing this, I see a giant truck, with a trailer attached, coming from behind a hump in the road. He goes full speed, and he does not seem to have noticed me or the lights. I am paralyzed with fear, but I try to accelerate and move out of the way. Mind you, this lasted something like 3-4 seconds maybe.

But there is nothing to do, he is going too fast. At the last moment, maybe 50 meters from me, he sees the car and he starts swerving. He manages to go past me by going on the emergency lane, but the trailer starts wobbling and then capsizes right in front of my car. I remember the entire scene in slow motion, and the clear thought "oh, this is how I die then;" - I was not even afraid, there was just a feeling of acceptance for that minuscule instant.

But hey, here I am typing this. The trailer landed maybe 20 centimeters from the front of my car. If I or the truck driver had done something slightly different for a fraction of a second, I would have been under the trailer.

I am pretty sure that I died in a lot of possible universes that day (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_suicide_and_immortality), and reality never felt quite the same after it.
