How did you meet your SO?

Little baby Aurora was a musician, and I got an internship playing at a regional theater the summer after my sophomore year in college. I was super pumped. I was going to play 44 shows with them, get my name out there, get paid, and work at a theater one step below Broadway. And there was only one catch: I didn't have a car.

I lived in NY. Theater was in the midwest. The music director told me I would be living with this random guitar player, and that he had agreed to drive me everywhere. I couldn't really be picky because I had no other way to make it work, but I did think it was a little weird that they were making me move in with a stranger of the opposite gender. But, that's the music life.

So mom dropped me off in a tiny, spider infested little shack, that had no air conditioning, and that was that. I had myself a good little cry about my impending murder by housemate, and pulled myself together.

He showed up later, and I pegged him for gay, immediately. He later told me that he mistook my athleticism for butch lesbian. So while we both thought each other not attracted to the other's gender, we became great friends, he found out I had a boyfriend, and not one word was said about attraction.

But we survived a tornado, 44 shows, hiked all around that place, canoed in a canoe with a colony of ants living in it (SURPRISE), marathoned the Lord of the Rings, stayed up until 3am frequently, and ate out of the same apple sauce jar after every show.

At the end of the summer, he left, and my boyfriend took me back to school. I did not speak to my house mate for a year, and he hopped on a cruise ship for his second contract with them. I left the boyfriend around Christmas.

And the next summer rolled around. He wanted to come back to the theater but couldn't due to other commitments, so we couldn't live together again. But, due to his best friend getting married at a very inopportune time for his offer to be hired as an in-house guitarist for some prestigious hotel in Italy, he wound up staying in the US, and taking a road trip to Pittsburgh. I told him he should stop by the theater on his way through. He did.

And the rest they say, is history.
