I know I shouldn’t feel guilty because I can sense this is the same (honestly quite sweet but rationally useless) characteristic of mine that led me to not look at the defining facts of my past relationship that dragged on way too long. I tend to be overly empathetic to people I care about, to my own detriment.

So I feel guilty because he told me twice, with tears in his eyes, that this is more than just a hookup to him, but I don’t think that really changes anything functionally. I regret in a way, not leaving the first time he said that which was before I developed feelings (because I’m almost certain this surprising revelation changed things for me), but too late !

That being said, I can say for certain he will get over it very quickly, so thank you for your vote in favor of what I wrote above :)
