You make it sound like biology or similar ... But it's actually necesity for most of us. I don't how life is for attractive men with plenty of female interest, but your run of the mill guy - which is most of us - learn the hard way that saying anything long term in the early phases of dating will get you rejected.

Most of those do this in our youth while still under the influence of romance and love stories in movies and what not ... But over time we realize that it will be a comment like "How can you think such things about a girl you've just met" .. followed by accusations of being one of those desperate dudes that is willing to take any girl as his GF.
