I'm sorry you're having a rough time. I'm the same age as you, and nobody's ever been interested in me, so I know how you feel. And I totally get you on not dumping a lot of money into something pointless. I have to save for my retirement too, since I'll only ever have me.

I tried joining a couple of meetup groups last year, but they weren't good for meeting men, honestly, since they were almost entirely other women (not a bad thing, of course), and also they kinda already had their own established group. So, I kinda gave up. I think at this point, there's not much for hope for ever meeting anyone. It sucks, and it's really lonely, but that's how life goes, huh?
