How many people actually gave up their note7's

I'm keeping mine, but I'll explain.

I preordered mine from Best Buy. Loving it even now, but the voluntary recall process is some twisted joke. Read the recall process is basically return the Note 7 and get a loaner phone (Samsung S7, S7 edge, J3, etc) from the store, sign up to get notified for the Note 7 availability, and exchange the loaner phone for the new Note 7. All fees during the recall/exchange process will be dismissed. The problem is that the stores/carriers themselves are offering loaner phone voluntarily as well, so each customer's experience will vary.

In my situation, I've been getting e-mails from Best Buy and Samsung to turn off the device and exchange it immediately. Best Buy is not offering loaner phones, so at this moment its either return the Note 7 or exchange it for another device permanently. AT&T stores or Samsung direct won't help me because I did not purchase the device from them. The worst part is although the e-mails and websites are telling me to power down my phone, Best Buy in-store and Samsung over the phone are telling me its perfectly fine to continue using the phone as normal.

I sometimes wonder why the average consumer doesn't bother with a recall until the product explodes in their faces, and then I go through this nightmare.
