How do you reconcile the Bible's and most Christians' ( or at least Evangelicals') hatred of the LGBTQ+ with the Bible outright telling everyone to "love thy neighbour"?

The people who are claiming to be Christians and are out there making threats and saying terrible things to gay people is sinful and they are using god and the Bible incorrectly. Some probably aren’t even Christian just hateful people attempting to use the Bible as a tool for evil.

God loves everyone but is distinct about who goes to heaven. Saved people go to heaven. You can’t be openly practicing homosexuality and claim to be saved. Even if you believe you are saved but are also gay you are essentially slapping god in the face. Homosexuality is in itself a grave sin against god but over many years society has become more and more accepting of that sin. It’s been normalized. Now again we shouldn’t hate the person or be mean or vile to gay people. As a Christian our job is to spread the gospel and pray, it’s never to force people to convert or change because that’s for each individual to decide.

It’s important to remember that god doesn’t send people to hell people choose hell and send themselves there every time they choose the world over god.
