How visible of a presence is law enforcement in your area? How much does it impact your comfort level in your neighbourhood?

I'm in Canada in a geographically large city. In both the area I live in and the area I grew up in (the area I grew up in is pretty close but technically not city proper) there isn't a particularly visible police presence. I do see them sometimes, but don't tend to see many cop cars just driving through the neighbourhood or sitting parked. I do notice a greater police presence in other parts of the city. Most of the time when I see cops it's when driving on the highway or seeing one in traffic somewhere, though.

My parents' other place is in a smallish town and I almost never see LE there. I know they're there - the police station is on the main street and I've seen officers at town events - but the presence of LE isn't very visible. I don't even remember seeing any police or police cars the last few times I was there.

Visible police presence or lack thereof doesn't have much impact on my comfort level. I've travelled to places that had varying levels of visible police presence and it didn't impact my comfort levels in those cases either, even when walking around alone.
