I grew up in a council estate, with a mother who relied on benefits, and a father who cheated on my mother when I was two, only to bring back a new women to the house and beat her, then he left for several years.

My mother would go on to have two more children to two different men, meaning we struggled to feed ourselves, becuase as I mentioned previously, she was on benefits and didn't work.

Any spare money we got went to her cigarette and drug addictions, all while I looked after my siblings, becuase she couldn't be bothered to do so.

I was bullied for having no money as a teenager, and would regularly wear clothes from previous years, which no longer fit. Between the ages of 18-20 I accured almost £10000 of debt to keep the household afloat, and to make sure my siblings had a better start than I had.

When I finally decided to move out, I was still £9000 in debt, surviving on tinned food and noodles for months to save money. Two and a half years later I'm about to be debt free. Despite all of that, I was able to aquire a provisional drivers licence for £30.
