I think I messed up by comparing ADHD to Autism

You offered an example to try to help her better understand you. I don't think you were out of line, although it clearly touched a nerve in her. Your friend doesn't seem very sensitive to your needs and struggles despite you trying to explain things in a way that she might understand better. I wish more people could see that their perceptions of others aren't always (almost never) accurate. What she may see as 'easy to fix' is just not true for the other person. I think that trying to help your friend understand you better is a good thing to do, not out of line. You didn't get defensive and storm off and you were respectful in how you explained things. I'm sorry she reacted like that. That would feel bad for sure, but I don't think you messed up.
