If Rey was a Mary Sue

I can't agree with this.

The part where they share the spot light is when they escape in the Millenium Falcon. Each contributed to their escape for different reasons and neither overshadowed the other. Finn is not bumbling there, he makes a good show of himself, especially when escaping earlier with Poe.

Rey is not better at fighting than Finn. She doesn't fight at all until the very end of the film when she confronts a bad guy with gaping wound in his chest. On Takodana, Rey is overwhelmed when she has her force vision, turns her back on her destiny and runs. When the FO show up, she flees in terror. Finn stays and fights. She runs away scared and then easily gets captured.

She does not know the Falcon better than Han and Chewie, she simply knows what of a modification that was made to the ship after it was stolen from Han and Chewie.

Rey does not make decisions better than Finn. The only time when she really saves him is from the Rathtar which was a result of her mistake anyway. You keep saying that she is a better fighter than Finn even though she can barely use a blaster to save her life. She can use the force and is a mechanic, that is all.

Saying that she is never in a position of weakness is a very strange thing to say considering that she is terrified and overwhelmed by her force vision and flees and gets captured easily and later gets knocked out with a force push. Han, Chewie and Finn all fight while she runs and hides, and fails, even at that.

You say that Han trusted and liked her too soon after getting to know her, but that is not true. Han, Chewie and Leia all know who she is. Maz asks Han "who's the girl?". They have a history together, it simply wasn't revealed to the audience. Rey is family, she is a Skywalker, most likely Luke's daughter.

Rey also does not show mastery of the force after learning about it in the film. She already knows about the force, she says that she has heard of Luke Skywalker. She knows what the force is. Her use of the force is also extremely inconsistent. She was defenseless against Kylo's force paralysis, force knockout and force push. Resisting Kylo's interrogation was excessive I agree, but your other criticisms seem way off base. Nothing in the films ever suggested that mindtricking is hard to learn.

Based on her force vision, I think it can be safely said that she has already received some training at Luke's academy before being hidden away. Everything she does in the film is ordinary stuff for a Skywalker.
