I'm printing in black and white only. It won't let me continue without magenta.

I'm an I.T. guy, and one of my "hats" has been that of purchasing manager. For years our users just "had" to print in color. WAY back when, that meant inkjets. Then we consolidated those into color laserjets. Then a few years ago I did a big analysis of our cost of consumables. My CIO didn't really care, but I thought the number really may surprise us. Alas, we were paying quite literally hundreds of thousands of dollars per year in toner and ink (and drums, etc). So I made the pitch that the cost of consumables move from IT's budget, to that of each business unit, or remote site. Also I pitched the idea that we create a sort of "consumables" tracking page in our purchasing system. That was given the green light. Within a few months of moving the cost to those who were DOING THE PRINTING, and giving them a tool to see exactly (down to the penny) how MUCH they were spending per month on consumables, our consumable expenditures went down by 75%. So it turned out folks DIDN'T have to print out their fucking emails.
