"I'm very fortunate": How much an intern and shoe store worker makes, and how she spends it

THE KEY WORD HERE IS SACRIFICES, she makes none.

Rent:$1,700/month Could she really not settle for a unit in an older building in a decent area for $1,000 to $1,300? This is just being spoiled.

Tenant’s insurance: $281.88 annually. Personally, I roll the dice on this and don't have any. I don't feel this is a necessary expense, but maybe I'm just an idiot. Either way I can't afford it.

Cellphone: $94/month This could be cut in half if she sticks to talking and texting with occasional data use.

Internet: $70 monthly This is about right. Hydro: $50 monthly. Seems a bit high for one person TBH.

ViaRail Unlimited Semester Pass $563/year Take the Greyhound Bus

Personal maintenance and self-care, including manicures: $250/month Do your own fucking nails

Tuition: $4,497 since September. Fine.

Groceries at Longos: $78.46. They don't say what she's buying

Three Uber trips: $56 Take the TTC for $18

Two lightbulbs and a new toothbrush: $18. (“I change my toothbrush every couple weeks.”) This is making my head spin. This is a $3 purchase at Dollerama. I also change my toothbrush quite frequently and I'd say $18 just about covers my toothbrush/lightbulb budget for the year.

Fluttered Fete Midi Skirt in ballet pink from Anthropologie: $201.95. (“I’ve lost 95 pounds over the last five years, so season to season my clothes don’t fit.”) So your clothes don't fit? Fair. Buy several skirts at H & M for $200.

Waxing, eyelash extensions, and manicure from P&H Salon: $157.42 What fucking ever.

Brunch at Bobbette and Belle: $20.74. Grande iced caramel Frappucino light and bistro box from Starbucks: $13. I have no idea what any of these things are.

Sandwich and shift treats for co-workers, from Brick Street Bakery: $17.34 Let your co-workers buy their own fucking snacks.
