[Ireland] Government announces nationwide 'no homework day' to thank children for all their hard work throughout pandemic

Not OP but a teacher. I teach grade 6/7 in Ontario. I don’t give homework. However, you must read every night and study for upcoming tests and assessments. Unfinished projects and in class work that wasn’t finished by the due date must be finished at home. Parents question me on it sometimes, but I’m in the business of making school enjoyable for my students, not make them hate it by piling on extra work for them. I always tell parents, if you would like to google worksheets, print them out and make your kids do it, fine by me, but I won’t be asking 11 and 12 years to do more work in the evening after they have just spent the entire day doing work in school.
