Islam is not at fault for the attacks in Paris, but the repressive states that use Islam as a means or justification for power are (my 2 cents)

We go to a memorial mass once a year, dont give them any money, and are very critical of the people in any community who aid or abet pedophile actions. That being said, its not my fault if a priest fucks a kid. Its the priests fault and he should be criminally tried. And I'm pretty sure these communities have displayed their outrage at leadership and apologized for others actions but at the end of the day none of these people fucked a kid except the priest himself.

I dont know where you get the idea that Muslims are doing nothing. What would you have them do? In this case the perpetrators of murder were Algerian immigrants (or first gen or something) who aligned themselves with terrorist cells or state-like actors who did support the murders. Why is your average Malaysian Muslim or a small New York family culpable for these crimes?

And if the scouts "would not stand for it" what would happen then? As I said, the troupe would probably get labeled "not true boy scouts" and yet that troupe would probably still consider themselves boy scouts if they were really true to their convictions. Who is right? Who is a true boy scout troupe?

But you have to realize that this example is a terrible one and we shouldn't focus on it as the structure of the Boy Scouts of America, which is quite hierarchical has little in common with the more diffuse structure of a major religion like Islam. It's not a useful analogy.

Im first generation US citizen of Irish parents and was alive during The Troubles. How responsible was I for the bombings though I did not approve of them and merely shared the same skin and religious culture?

But one thing that doesn't add up is your insistence that all ~1.6 billion Muslims are silent on this. I mean, you could even find examples of certain groups supporting the actions which would even serve your argument and you don't. I could also find fatwah's and other religious leaders condemnation of these events as murder. Looking through your post history, how you didn't address most of what I said, and your denial of obvious facts suggests to me that your mind will not be bent in this internet argument.

This last point pains me, as I once held your view point and thought that the Muslim world was reluctant to cut out the cancer of terrorism. It made me so angry. But then I talked with a lot of people and realized that my Pakistani roommate is no more responsible for these attacks than I am for bombing Belfast. And that terrorism and radical thought isn't as black and white as religion though religion can certainly be used for ill. Good luck, man
