It is true that it has never been at this scale but Sweden has had immigration for around 40 years now. The problems with integration has been known but have been largely ignored. The mindset today seems to be that the people living in Sweden needs to adapt to suit the needs and wishes for anybody who steps into the door as to not hurt their feelings.

The left victimize anybody who is not a ethical Swede in the most rasist way and do not even realize it. This helps digging the gap wider between groups in Sweden. In Sweden you have equal opportunity and freedom of and from religion but you have to learn the language and get the skills you need to handel a job to support you. In the areas considered as "exclusion areas" there can live guys who spent all their lifes in Sweden and are still less adapted with their own life then a Iraqi refugee arriving in 2003.

The problem with integration as I see it is not so much that Sweden closes doors to opportunities for immigrants but rather that a lot of young immigrants just can accept their identity as Arabs living in Sweden and rather turn to "gangstyle cool lifes" then actually try. It is also true that many just end up within this life style since it is the only thing they can idintify with being born and raised in it.

All these problems has been known in Sweden for decades, so while the scale is new the problems are not. It is just part of the Swedish culture to accept, respect and trust. Sadly the culture will change when there is less trust left. I fear that we will adopt a culture of distrust and one that were it is a win to cheat somebody else for anything as long as you yourself stand to gain.
