JFS Member: German journalist? Jürgen Todenhöfer never conducted an interview with a JFS member nor did he enter the liberated areas.

This kind of double standard does my head in. A very good but sad example occurred in my home suburb this year, I live in Australia. A Syrian-Australian journalist, named Reynes I believe, who was held in a refugee camp in Iraq for a year after they took his Australian passport, finally arrived home and was subsequently arrested by the federal police because of his "contact with a terrorist organisation", the PKK, who he was writing about. They had a picture of him posing with a Kalashnikov, which obvs didn't do him any favours but the general consensus is that he was over there as a reporter. He's still in prison and is likely going to be charged for his "crime" of association; the prison he's being held in is home to many IS sympathisers and arrested militants who have been beating him frequently, it's horrible. Anyway, then Tara Brown (a well know ""reporter"" over here) goes and does a piece on the YPJ in Syria, and also then hires mercenaries and goes to Lebanon in order to abduct the children of this mother who claimed the husband ran off with the children (it later turned out she was the one who took the children first, then he just brought them back home) and she gets arrested by Lebanese authorities and her TV channel pays 1 million to have the children's farther drop the charges, still leaving the 'Child Recovery' agents that THEY HIRED from England to rot in a Middle Eastern prison while she goes home scott free.
