Just because you regret Trump, it doesn't mean you're not Republican or American [OC, at least I think so]

I'm literally saying this is someone who sold their company and retired 10 years ago in their mid thirties. I'm also saying this is somebody who has an MBA, has written several books on economics and investing, and now spends their time investing in other companies and various asset classes.

The US debt very much does matter. At least it does if you ever want to see the federal funds rate above 0% again. By arbitrarily having to fix rates low to avoid increased debt dervice payments, we lose the ability to modulate economic cycles, lose the ability to mitigate risk of inflation, risk devaluation of our currency, which can lead to loss of confidence by those who buy our treasuries, which in turn leads to risk of losing reserve currency status down the road.

Armchair economists tend to think very short-term when it comes to pulling economic levers. Those who are familiar with history and think longer-term are much more sanguine about the economic decisions big made in this country and the fragility of r currency and our place in the global economy.
