‘It Just Isn’t Working’: Test Scores Cast Doubt on U.S. Education Reform | An international exam shows that American 15-year-olds are stagnant in reading and math even though the country has spent billions to close gaps with the rest of the world

I can’t get the supplies I need with my tiny tiny budget.

Kids are coming to school without being fed breakfast, no lunch, so they’re given free food, then ontop of that some parents who get the free food bring their kids in late so they miss the free breakfast and get food from the nurse, who buys stuff herself.

The admin is making a lot. Truth.

Tech is being pushed but at the same time I have kindergarteners who have never colored before and fifth graders who don’t have crayons at home.

My take home salary is exactly half what my actual salary is because almost half goes to insurance and then taxes. So when you hear teachers make 60k? Yah it’s more like 30k.

I have NO idea where the money is going. I don’t think there is a lot to start with, and all this anti-teacher rhetoric is killing us. I can work soo hard, and make the prefect lesson to be modified for 30 different kids and then they go home to parents who don’t bother with them, just shove an iPad in their face and maybe give them microwaved food. There is no home life, for some of my students. You can give me 1 million a year and I can’t fix that. There are good parents, but not enough.
