Katie Hill's resignation is a travesty. This is not what justice looks like

If you work for a company that has rules that all you have to do is report it to HR and go on with your lives, cool. If you're somewhere that has explicitly stated rules that you accepted to work there that say it is unacceptable to be in a relationship with a subordinate, such as the military, or Congress, then that isn't something you can just report and move on.

That's not making an ethical position, that's recognizing the factual situation that you have violated established rules, and if you don't like those rules, don't work there.

I think Hill got a bum deal, and an actual investigation should have been done, with possible censure for violating the rules or expulsion if it was particularly egregious, but she did violate rules that are put in place to protect people. We can't claim the moral high ground if we don't hold ourselves to the same standard.
