Kevin Durant responds to a YouTube comment asking why he cares what people think: "I play basketball, I got acne, I grew up with nothing, in still figuring myself out in my late 20, I slide in DMs, I make fun of my friends, I drink beer and play Xbox. I'm closer to you than u think"

You asked the question, "What does a championship have to do with personal growth as a human being?" I answered.

I don’t think that is true for any NBA player after winning a chip.

It might be for some. KD's "figuring himself out" comment reminds me of another individual who was once at the top of his profession.

A brilliant chef. Maybe the most brilliant of our time. His name is Marco Pierre White. When he achieved the highest recognition a chef can achieve, he quit being a chef. After reaching the top, he realized he didn't want to spend 80 hours a week maintaining his identity as a world-class chef. So, Marco returned his awards, and he went on to do other things with his life.

Bill Gates went through a similar process. After building one of the largest tech companies in history, he gave it up to pursue philanthropy.

The championship didn't change KD's lifestyle, but it's certainly making him question his lifestyle. After winning the highest honors he can, maybe KD is unsure if he wants to keep working 80 hours a week at basketball. KD knows he only has one life, and he might have other dreams he wants to chase.
