Kids, when did you realize your parents might be terminally stupid?

I recently wondered how much real addiction is different than say diabetes or inability to process compounds with copper. Especially the second one as there is just one medication that Valeant made something like 200x more expensive, there is no alternative and insurance have been dropping paying for it (see Dirty Money S01E03). In essence you are spending everything you have to fight the condition.

Having been prescribed one specific non-SSRI antidepressant that actually has the potential for addiction (since it's also weak mju opoid receptor agonist) I sometimes wonder if the body built up tolerance after many months since it sometimes feels like I am in withdrawal. Like if the medication now just "tickles" the receptors but does not work as it did in the beginning.
